Call of Duty: Warzone Announces its Fifth and Final Season
The era of Warzone is coming to an end to make room for the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Activision is releasing Warzone’s final season of content next week with some classic villains from old entries.
Players can look forward to playing as Raul Menendez, Khaled Al-Asad, Gabriel T. Rorke, and He “Seraph” Zhen-Zhen. The Call of Duty blog says that “they’re hell-bent on revenge–if it’s the last thing they do.”
From August 24, 2022, two characters will be available as playable Operators along with content updates. The Gulag is getting a new look, and the map will be plagued by a destructive volcano on Caldera that’s erupting and pouring lava everywhere. Warzone will also be getting some new quests and a limited-time mode called Operation: Last Call.
Operation: Last Call is inspired by the game mode, Search and Destroy. Players will have to either disarm explosives located across the island or ensure they go off. “Witness two different outcomes, depending on your performance and your intent to cause chaos!”
Vanguard is also getting some new content updates, including two new maps called Beheaded and Fortress. Beheaded is a small map located in Times Square, New York where players “battle under the neon lights outside famed Big Apple establishments, or take up position in Lady Liberty’s fallen head.” The map called Fortress “incorporates an old ship into its own design, creating a varied landscape to be exploited by savvy Operators.”
Beheaded goes live with the next seasonal update while Fortress will be available later on.
Zombies is also getting some content in Vanguard. A new round-based experience called The Archon is coming. The official description states: “From a cursed desert battlefield to the heart of the Dark Aether: pass the Trials, confront the Construct, and defeat the Archon in the epic conclusion of Vanguard Zombies.
Of course, more new weapons and the next Battle Pass is coming alongside these new updates and changes.
