Chris Hemsworth Is Unrecognizable In Mad Max Prequel Set Photos

Marvel Cinematic Universe star Chris Hemsworth is completely unrecognizable with a scruffy beard and prosthetic nose in Furiosa set photos. The fifth installment in the Mad Max franchise, the upcoming Furiosa film will serve as both a spin-off and a prequel to 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road, which starred Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa. Also from director George Miller, the prequel movie will focus on a young Furiosa's origin story as she is kidnaped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into a Biker Horde led by Warlord Dementus, who begins warring with Immortan Joe.

Anya Taylor-Joy leads the Furiosa cast in the titular role alongside Mad Max: Fury Road stars Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson, who are reprising their roles as Rictus Erectus and The Organic Mechanic, respectively. Newcomers to the franchise include Hemsworth and Mank's Tom Burke in undisclosed roles. The Furiosa movie began filming earlier this summer, and the first look at Hemsworth's rumored villain with a red-tinged beard was soon revealed online via set photos.

Now, as Furiosa continues production in Sydney, another look at the MCU star has arrived. The photos were first reported by The Daily Mail and shared on Twitter by PastranaTweet. They show Hemsworth looking utterly unrecognizable thanks to a wild beard and strikingly different nose. Check out the set photos below:

Based on the gray in his beard, Hemsworth's character appears to be a bit older in these new Furisoa set photos than he did in the first look that was revealed earlier this summer and thus, looks even more unrecognizable this time around. Other than the facial hair and nose, Hemsworth's character can be seen wearing a sleeveless golden jacket, showing off the arms and abs the Thor: Love and Thunder star is known for. In another set photo, Hemsworth can be seen riding in a souped-up monster truck reminiscent of the vehicles from Mad Max: Fury Road, suggesting the prequel will remain faithful to is predecessor in terms of production design.

While these new Furiosa photos provide a good look at Hemsworth on set, they don't reveal any additional insight into what character he could be playing. It has been rumored that Hemsworth is playing a villain in Furiosa, and that certainly looks to be the case based on his appearance. However, it's still unclear if Hemsworth is playing Warlord Dementus or Immortan Joe, with Burke likely taking on the other role. Regardless of which part the MCU star is playing, it will be a drastic departure from his superhero persona as Thor. Hopefully, some more Furiosa set photos will surface soon that hint at Hemsworth's role in the Mad Max prequel.
